Claudia Hartmann, born in 1965 in Sorengo, Switzerland was raised in Milan, Italy in a bilingual and multicultural environment. Exposed to the arts by her grandmother, a gifted artist herself, Claudia began instruction in oil painting at five years of age under the guidance of the painter Cicci Manetti—a passion that she has nurtured for life. Although she studied business administration at the University of St. Gallen, her creativity led her to work in the restoration of buildings protected by the Office of historic Swiss monuments. Married with two children, Claudia moved to Shanghai for seven years followed by another four years in Singapore where she was exposed to diverse cultures that pushed her to return to oil painting with a new vision. In 2006, she returned to Ticino Switzerland, where she was introduced to sculpturing, influenced by the artist Gianmarco Torriani, a passion that led her on a constant path of growth both stylistically and personally. Since then, she has deepened her knowledge, visiting the workshop of the artist Sighanda and experimenting with sculpture on marble in the Arzo caves. She further perfected her craft through various courses at the Perseo foundry in Mendrisio, Switzerland. Claudia lives with her family in Montagnola, Switzerland, where she works at her ‘CH ATELIER’.
