Kendrick Snodin's works are available for sale online with Wychwood Art and in their Deddington Art Gallery. I am an artist living and working in Leicester. Having studied at De Montfort University Leicester, I gained a BA (Hons) Degree in Illustration and Graphic Design, I went on to a career as an Illustrator and Art tutor. Due to the impact of the Covid pandemic on my thirty year career, I have been developing my creative practice using a variety of media, employing both traditional methods and digital software. The pandemic has brought about a sea change in my personal and professional circumstances which I feel is represented in the volume and form of my output over the past 18 months. It has also strengthened my commitment as an art tutor, to witness first-hand the dedication and development of students adaptability under ever shifting circumstances has been a physical manifestation of the change from the bread & butter of my graphic design work to the cake of art and art tutoring which I hope to develop & share even further. My artwork has been, for the most part, focussed on a single area of the Leicestershire landscape - in order to explore all the moods, atmospheres & changes of season that have been witnessed during the pandemic.. I have found immense creative purpose since starting to develop my practice in a more personal creative direction after many years in a commercial environment, albeit a forced change it is most welcome and now embraced. My work focusses on my specific responses to the world and its impact on me as an individual, sometimes obliquely in abstract form & also in a more traditional manner. The Leicestershire landscape is my inspiration and solace, as the seasons change and the air cools/warms, it feels like an expression of the artistic quest, for the unique truths we hold as our own, each step into the artistic realm feels like the breath of life itself. The contrast of light, shade & colour reflects the broader themes in humanity and I endeavour to make my art as accessible and inclusive as possible though social media and alternative text descriptions for the visually impaired. All my works are at once a question & answer in their own space and right. The artworks are developed quickly on site and then worked on in different spheres in the studio. Drawings, photographs and paintings are combined into painting and digital rendering, sometimes moving between the differing realms.
