Discover new paintings of London and in-particular Battersea by Sarah Adams. North London born and raised artist, Sarah Adams, uses a limited colour palette of acrylics anchored with white, painting onto paper in thick, buttery brush marks. Her art practice is inspired by her home city of London, and her works take in well known, recognisable views, painted to create a calming, peaceful feel of what are otherwise, crowded and bustling settings. The ever-changing, diverse and beautiful London skyline resonates with Sarah and she is enjoys capturing a moment in time, and has captured many of the city’s landmarks and views in her paintings. Sarah depicts gentle views of London in her distinctive style, which allows the viewer to see London in a new light, using few brush marks to create the landscape that from afar looks really detailed. She has gently emerged onto the London art scene, and has been part of many exhibitions, most recently the ING Discerning Eye, Mall Galleries, 2016. She has recently completed a commission for the Battersea Power Station development, and her work has been reproduced on a large scale, for the hoardings of the new buildings. Recently, Sarah has explored landscapes, still painted with her expressive mark making. Paintings in this exhibition include her obligatory city views, including the river, but also coastal scenes, and woodland close to her home in North London.
