Jeremy Houghton was commissioned to paint the Queen in 2009 presenting a new riband to her Majesty’s Gentleman at Arms. He then went onto work as an artist in Residence for HRH The Prince of Wales at Highgrove and in 2015 went to work at Windsor Castle for the Queen. This has lead to Houghton attending HM The Queen’s official 90th birthday celebrations of the Trooping of the Colour in June 2016 and works from this time will also be on view at the exhibition.
In 2013 he worked with Aston Martin where he drove in the day and painted at night. This racing experience continued when he worked with Lord March at Goodwood House in 2015. Works from his experiences there will also be on view at this exhibition.
Jeremy’s flight paintings which bring together all of his styles is a major part of the solo exhibition. It was because of the flight paintings that he was chosen to work with Ben Ainslie as an artist in residence for the Land Rover Ben Ainslie Racing. The boat that Ben Ainslie is using appears to float above the water much like Jeremy’s bird in flight series. For Ben Ainslie Jeremy is capturing life on the boat as well as off it and the aim of this residency is to make sailing accessible to everyone. The exhibition at Wychwood Art, Hart Villa, Sheep Street, Stow-on-the-Wold, Gloucestershire, GL54 1AA is open Monday-Saturday 10am-4pm from 13th September-29th September 2016.
