The painting 'Catching the Light' has been created over the last few months in response to the wild unpredictable weather in the UK particularly in the North of Scotland as the light is so beautiful and transient. I love to try and capture those moments in my paintings and have used oils to capture the feeling one gets when you are witnessing those moments.

I love being in nature and concentrate on using paint as a vehicle to convey the intimacy of my surroundings and the sense of belonging and affinity with landscape. The landscape drives me to capture atmosphere when I am in wild places and I use these feelings and experiences in a very loose and ephemeral way to create my own personal view of the landscape.
