Water Lilies is a signed original acrylic painting on canvas by Jan Rogers of a group of pink and purple flowers on green lily pads floating in a sparkling deep blue pond. A Monet inspired painting of a pond of Water Lilies. Energetic, expressive and contemporary in approach albeit strongly influenced by the impressionist vision of Monet, whose beautiful works are still ever more popular. Seeing so many paintings of lilies in recent weeks has inspired me to paint them. Colour upon colour that spreads across the painting due to the mirror effects of the water. Bold, frenetic and a little wild is my usual approach to my art and this was a real joy to paint. Painted on to a top quality, chunky deep edged wooden framed stretched canvas. Painted using the very best acrylics and sealed with varnish to seal and protect the artwork.

I later discovered William Morris and I knew I wanted to spend my life creating pattern, in particularly I was going to design wallpaper. After graduating from art college I set up my own business as a freelance surface pattern designer, selling to a worldwide market of home furnishing manufacturers. This was a wonderful and rewarding career until the industry began to change. As we now live in a digital world the requirement to create and manipulate design on a computer took away the joy and thrill of an ever changing journey that creating as you go allowed. I needed to break away and find a new way of creating, inventing and expressing the energy and passion designing once gave me. So since 2017 I have been painting, inspired by my love of flowers and the British landscape and seascapes it's the perfect way forward for me and wonderful to experiment with new mediums and subjects without restriction.
