Karen Fitzpatrick is a contemporary abstract landscape artist. Karen grew up in South Wales where from an early age she developed a love of art, nature and being outdoors. She now lives on the edge of the Cotswolds and draws her inspiration from the local
landscape especially around Bredon Hill.
Karen's paintings are an emotional response to the ever changing landscape. Karen connects with nature in a way that excites her and makes her feel authentically herself. Pops of colour in the landscape, the way the light changes right in front of her eyes, an unusual pattern on a leaf, the distorted lines of a broken fence, or the feel of the wind can all inspire her. Karen see's the beauty in
nature all around her. She enjoys the journey of painting and her initial marks are loose, intuitive, and spontaneous. Karen begin's with an emotional memory from a place and then let the painting develop from within using her plein air sketches as reference. Karen likes to work with a limited colour palette, deciding at the start on just three or four colours which she then mixes to create a harmonious range.
To be true to her authentic self she feels a need to be creative.
