  • About this work of Art

Anne Storno – French Bulldog, commonly named Frenchies, are unlikely stars.
    Silkscreen print on Paper.
    Edition of 15.
Signed, titled and editioned by the artist in pencil.

These piglet-bellied, googly-eyed, bat-eared, lolling-tongued creatures look like a five-minutes-to-closing trolley dash around the dog part store. But the whole is definitely lovelier than the sum of its parts. You see them everywhere, outside cool cafés and city parks, snuggled into little coats or snoring quietly in their baskets in the corners of smart boutiques. They sit on the chicest laps and attend the glitziest parties. The French bulldog is defintely fashion.

I have played with the dog image by imaging it like a motorbike rider. The title “Easy rider” comes from a “road film” from 1969, tale of a search for freedom (or the illusion of freedom) in a conformist and corrupt America.
By placing it in a surprising decorum, I try to find humour in day to day life.
