Miami South Beach faces straight onto the Atlantic and so the constant flow of waves crashing onto the beautiful white sands, created a great base for this oil painting.

I am drawn to expressing places I have visited where the light and colour interact to provide beauty – wide expansive skies, the hues of nature, reflections in water, textures and layers. I love how colour can be built up and blended from its constituents. I often start with acrylics working on a very wet canvas to provide the under layer and then work on top with oils, which enables me to create the depth and levels of colour, constantly blending and mixing the paint to produce the hue and texture needed.
