Autumn birches is an original limited edition Reduction linocut print by Jennifer Jokhoo – a Surrey Hills based printmaker and painter.
It was created using a relief printing technique whereby a multi coloured print is pulled from a single block. The lino is inked with the lightest colour and the first printing is made. The areas to remain that colour are then cut away. This is the process for each layer, therefore it cannot be rewound or repeated. As a result Jennifer’s editions are kept very small.
I endeavour to depict the ever changing effects of light and colour at different times of the day, and seasonal change. I am fortunate to live in the Surrey hills and subject matter is often discovered whilst out walking our dog. Hillside views, fields, wide skies and horizontal bands are elements that I seek to explore in my work.
