Lisa Takahashi The Chain Gang. Lisa Takahashi is currently on view at the Royal Academy Summer exhibition 2015 with this work but in a different colourway. The other linocut , The Chain Gang in yellow colourway was sold out on the opening night.

Lisa Takahashi’s The Chain Gang is only sold unframed and there it will take three weeks for delivery on this limited edition linocut . A 3 – Colour Linocut Relief print depicting road cyclists casting shadows on the road. The print is made by carving 3 separate lino tiles which are then inked up and printed on to the paper over one another.

Lisa Takahashi is a Bristol based printmaker. She studied at Bath Spa University College and Middlesex University. She is known for her Grosvenor School-influenced prints, but also often paints in oils and draws in graphite. Her print ‘Tour de Force’ featured in the 2013 Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, where it sold out on the opening night.

Lisa gained her BA Honours degree in Fine Art at Bath Spa University College and Middlesex University. Lisa Takahashi makes prints because she loves to make designs that simplify the world that we live in into arrangements of alluringly coloured shapes. Lisa Takahashi sights her influences as including The Grosvenor School, Stanley Spencer and a lot of other artists from the first half of the 20th Century. She is half Japanese and half English and grew up in the wonder of North London suburbia.
