Although I live in London the Big Apple is one of my favourite cities in the world and often the subject of my art. I love the city’s mix of historic buildings and modern skyscrapers. I love the patterns of the streets and the shapes cast by the Hudson river. This piece is created from an original photograph, taken on a helicopter trip with the doors off. It is then digitially coloured by hand and printed directly onto a slim sheet of aluminum, which gives it an etched appearance and brings out the shapes and details of Manhattan and its buildings. The vivid blue sky contrasts beautifully with the silver of the aluminum. Manhattan From Above is made to order. It can usually be created and delivered in around 10-14 days. An aluminium subframe on the back makes it incredibly easy to hang.

Michael has spent more than twenty years in the media industry working on entertainment programmes, talk shows, documentaries, animations and a children’s novel. But creating original and innovative art is his true passion. His latest work celebrates the beauty of the city through the shapes, outlines and colours that define its character. London, New York, Hong Kong, Singapore, Miami, Paris and Dubai all feature in Michael’s portfolio. The art is created by digitally manipulating and colouring his own photographs to produce unusual prints on aluminium, reclaimed wood, brass, even 1930’s copper-lite windows. He also creates neon, magnetic, and L.E.D installations. The metal pieces are printed on very thin sheets of brushed aluminium, giving the work an etched appearance. Michael works out of his studio at Wimbledon Art Studios in South London. Recent exhibitions include The Affordable Art Fair (Battersea, Hampstead, Singapore, New York, Milan), The Other Art Fair, and The Open Studios Show at Wimbledon Art Studios, amongst others.
