Sedum Rubrotinctum by Kerry Day is a 3 layered reduction lino cut printed in a varied limited edition of 20.

Kerry is fascinated by the shapes and contours of leaves, and the joy of discovering new patterns within the vibrant green foliage.

Reduction linocuts are printed from one piece of lino, cutting it again for each new colour in the design. All the prints for an edition have to be printed before moving on to the next colour, because once the lino is re-cut you can’t make any more. Depending on how many colours are use, at the end there may be very little of the lino block left uncut

Size: H:37 cm x W:26 cm

"Originally from London, I trained as a ceramicist at Bath Spa University and now live and work in Bristol. I completed an MA in Multi Disciplinary Printmaking at the University of the West of England in 2011 and am now based in my studio at Hamilton House, Bristol. My current body of work is about the plants that I share my home and studio with. I am drawn to their architectural shapes and contours. The wide range of leaf colour and pattern in these cacti, succulents and leafy plants allow me to develop layers of texture and tone within the forms. I use a mixture of reduction lino print and mono print (using the rollers like paint brushes) to produce variable edition prints. I sometimes etch into the lino with caustic soda to create more brush like marks making each picture unique."
