Developed in Japan during the 1980s, Shinrin-yoku is the practice of ‘forest bathing’ and involves spending time in the forest stretching, meditating, inhaling tree aromas and generally appreciating the forest!

This is an original multi-block linocut print, using two blocks and variable inking to achieve the effect of dappled sunlight shining through a canopy of leaves. There are three versions of this limited variable edition print and 30 prints of each version.

Each linocut is handmade from start to finish – hand carved, inked and handprinted, and as such they will have small variations between them making each print into a unique artwork.

Susan Noble, artist, is available for sale online and in our art gallery at Wychwood Art. Susan Noble is a printmaker working mainly through the medium of reduction linocut printing. After studying Archaeology Susan spent nearly 20 years working in the research & education sector. Now married with two children and a clingy spaniel, Susan has returned to her home town and first love – art, specifically printmaking. Having grown up in and around the coastal town of Saltburn much of her inspiration comes from these surroundings and she bases her work on her own pencil drawings and photos. From her home studio in Saltburn, she produces limited edition prints with short runs. All of her prints are hand pulled and she loves the processes involved in printing, from the cutting of fresh lino to the excitement of peeling off a freshly inked image and seeing the subtle differences in each unique print. She also teaches linocut workshops at a local NE Print Studio, Hey Ho Print Co.
