About this work of Art
Stow-on-the-Wold is situated at 800ft near the top of the Cotswold Hills. Famous for the Battle of Stow on the Wold in 1646. This was the last battle of The English Civil War (1642 to 1646). This print is of a watercolour painting of the street looking towards St Edward’s Church, where after the battle royalist prisoners were held overnight. The gruesome events of this battle ultimately lead to the execution of King Charles 1st and to the foundation of our parliamentary democracy. The limited edition print is made with light fast inks on quality Hahnemuhle 210gsm Albrecht Durer archival paper.
