About this work of Art
Summer Meadow is a linocut that evokes high summer for me. Warmth, tall grasses, swallows catching flies, the smell of meadowsweet and hay and cows grazing. I enjoyed cutting the lacelike patterns of the hogweed and willow leaves against the solid shape of the cow. This print is part of an edition of 50 on cream paper and is unframed.
Rosemary Farrer is an artist printmaker who trained in Fine Art at Camberwell School of Art and the Ruskin School of Drawing. She uses various techniques including etching, aquatint, lino and woodblocks and enjoys using the special qualities of these different methods, whether it be the graphic, dynamic marks of a linocut, or the subtle tones and textures achievable in an aquatint. Her woodblock print ‘Track’ was exhibited at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition this year and sold out at the Private View.
