Helen Langfield A Breath of light has been inspired by the raw emotion where waves and sky meet. I wanted to create a dramatic scene, but then show the delicate chinks of light shining through. Creating a feeling of hope, through light, that all will be well.
The image is taken purely from my imagination, and I want the viewer to also reach their own interpretation, of what it means to them.
The canvas is boxed, with painted sides.
It is signed ‘Helen’ on the front and also on the back.
It has been given a temporary coat of retouch varnish to enhance and protect the oils.
Size: H:61 cm x W:61 cm

Helen initially trained as a nurse, however following a career break whilst she raised her family, she took the decision not to return to nursing but to pursue her original ambition to become a fine artist.
Upon completion of a Foundation Art course at the University of South Wales in Caerleon, in which she gained a distinction, Helen embarked upon establishing herself as an artist, focusing primarily on the dramatic Welsh seascapes and landscapes which she loves. Working predominantly in oil on canvas, she uses brush and palette knife marks to create rich textures which have been described as sensitive and expressive.
Helen uses a semi abstract style to capture the essence of the image, drawing upon her experiences and deep emotional connection with the Welsh countryside. Her work focuses on the dynamic nature of light, and its interaction with the surrounding environment. The creation of each painting is an emotional journey in which Helen endeavours to engage the viewer to reach their own interpretation.
