La Joie De Vivre is an original painting in mixed media on reverse glass by Adam Bartlett. The idea for this painting was loosely based around Matisse’ ‘The Joy Of Life’, interestingly i feel there is a antique East Asian feel to the painting perhaps in the colour but also the way that the black paint of the final coat dragged the white paint (both acrylic) leaving what could be streams and waterfalls, part of the ‘joy’ of working in reverse and on glass.
Adam Bartlett is a former fashion print designer who studied textiles at Manchester University and is now a full time artist, specialising painting and illustration; common themes are that of nature (jungle and tigers) and still life, both abstract and surreal, inspired by a mixture of Mughal and contemporary art. His recent clients include the Zizzi Restaurants, Easy and Ibis Hotel chains; producing large scale mural art and wallpapers.
