Descent is one of a looser set of paintings I did recently, really focusing on the movement and energy of the body in the water.
Born and raised in New Zealand, Amy Devlin has lived in the UK for 20 years, first in London, then since 2015 in rural Kent.
Amy’s current body of work focuses on bodies in water and bodies of water. “I love the exploration, chasing the physical memory of being underwater. That tranquil feeling of the sun on your body even through the water and the swirl around you as you jump in!

Amy Devlin, painter, is available for sale online and in our gallery at Wychwood Art. Paint has always been my favourite medium, and I feel very lucky to be able to do something I truly enjoy. I love the detail in life - a person, an animal, a shaft of light through water, the ever changing clouds. Working in oils I try to recreate a physical memory of water, sunshine and light. I aim to capture the solitude and tranquillity of water or skies by combining realism with impressionistic brushstrokes. Working from your photographs, I can produce high quality paintings of people or pets. For underwater commissions I am able to organise rental of an underwater camera to take on holiday with you to capture amazing underwater images.
