Camellias and a Dish of Plums is an original still life painting by Lynne Cartlidge who loves to paint flowers in season. These particular flowers came from a city lane near where she lives.

Lynne Cartlidge’s art works are carefully selected by ex-Christie’s art specialist Deborah Allan our Chief Art Cuarator. Lynne Cartlidge’s subjects are usually common everyday items – fruit and flowers, teacups, interior views or light streaming in from outside. Her work is unusual and subtle, suffused with light with the objects sometimes appearing barely there. The paintings are both understated and engaging. Born in New Zealand, when her parents emigrated for a while in the sixties, Lynne then grew up in Cornwall between 1967 and 1984, studying at Falmouth Art College and then Cardiff Art College where she attained a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) Fine Art degree and was selected for the Whitworth Young Contemporaries. Lynne is settled in Wales and retains links with Cornwall where she has family. She was recently awarded funding by the Arts Council of Wales to study with the Cornish painter Alice Mumford. Lynne Cartlidge was elected a member of the Royal Cambrian Academy of the Arts in Wales early 2017.
