Autumn Meadow is an original landscape painting inspired by the autumnal Oxfordshire fields where the artist takes regular walks. The middle-ground was created using slightly watery acrylic paint, dripped and encouraged to run, creating interesting marks that conjure up ideas of rough ground. Suggestions of late summer wild blooms add focus to the foreground where the artist has used splattering techniques and even finger painting!
I love to create paintings inspired by the stunning Oxfordshire countryside where I live and seascapes from my travels. These are usually enhanced by my vivid imagination. Following A Level I continued to study art at Banbury in Oxfordshire and finally a degree at the Surrey Institute of Art and Design in Farnham, totalling six years of art training and many, many more years experimenting. I enjoy the experimental approach of trying out different mediums including ink, acrylic, oil and watercolour. The application of the paint is an exciting experience for me creating interesting marks such as splashes, dripping, masking, dry brushing and palette knife effects. Working in a spontaneous manner, I relish in the excitement of the unpredictable nature of the media I combine. In fact ‘happy accidents’ are a fundamental part of my practise and lead to each piece having its own individuality.
