Road to Seville
Original oil painting on canvas

(Please note that in situ images are purely an indication of how a piece may look).

This is an original oil painting by Christo Sharpe and was inspired by a journey to Seville where the hot colours and strong shapes blend to a wonderful mood painting. Christo has tended to take an object or a place and use that as his inspiration. Now he is tending to let an action or a mood dictate the form of his paintings.

Clear, bold and confident, Christo Sharpe is a lifelong painter who closes on a subject to pull your attention to the colours, shapes and details in front of him. His strong colours and compositions are delightfully simple and appealing. After Southampton College of Art and a 20 year career as an art director in advertising he is now focusing exclusively on his art. He is an enthusiastic traveller and walker and it is often on these walks that his subjects reveal themselves. It is not always the classic views that appeal, it can just as often be a gnarled tree trunk, a dense woodland scene or a country garden that holds his attention. If he can take a subject and encourage the viewer to see something new and exciting in that image, then he has achieved what he wants to do in his art. This is work that looks and feels fresh.

To generate an awareness that might otherwise be missing. This is work that looks and feels fresh.
