Coastal Walk by Teresa Pemberton Abstract Art for Sale
60 x 60 cm Framed in white wood total size 67 x 67 cm
This is a seascape/landscape oil painting on canvas with a collaged piece in oil on paper attached to the canvas. This is inspired by the coastal path which Teresa walks regularly and is concerned with the idea of walking on a surface which often holds a mystery. One of the delights of coast walking especially in Cornwall is finding surprises of plants or animals that have not been seen before or picking up a pebble or bird feather. Teresa is experimental in her work and although her paintings are begun by memory and drawing from her sketch book it is the surface of the painting, the colour she uses and the imaginative approach to the final piece of work which makes them stand out.
Teresa has been a professional artist since achieving a first class honours degree approx twenty years ago. She is exhibited widely nationally and internationally and her work is many collections.

Size: H:60 cm x W:60 cm

A professional artist (trained in Hertfordshire where she gained a BA 1st class honours in Fine Art) Teresa moved from the London area ten years ago to a hamlet just over the Tamar Bridge. From this studio she can walk from her gate to soak up the atmosphere of the countryside and estuaries of the Lynher and Tamar. She also has a studio which is part of the Ocean Studios complex in the Royal William Yard, Plymouth. Teresa has a passion for colour and surface texture. The paintings explore the places where water and land meet: boundaries and enclosures of marsh, estuary and shore, sky and sea and the weather.. They have their origins in real places (latterly Cornwall coast paths, the Scilly Isles, Dartmoor) and are underpinned by observational drawings. Work also includes gardens and still life subjects. Back in the studio there is a departure from the pure vision into other worlds where in the end the work is about the essence of paint itself. I am experimental in the wide subject of “what is painting?” allowing myself to involve collage, stitching, or other ephemera on the picture plane. I am also involved in making series of works which question the dichotemies of figurative/abstract, decorative/narrative, pattern/colour fields. I am addicted to oil paint as a sensuous material.
