Atmospheric evening beach with strong colours

Carol Mountford, artist with Wychwood Art. Carol has a background in interior design and started painting 30 years ago, using watercolour. She is self taught and her style is loose and free flowing with lots of colour and vitality. Over the years she has won prizes in local exhibitions and has been featured in Artist and Illustrator and International Artist magazines. She has sold through a fine art publisher and had limited edition prints taken from her work, she has also had cards made from her paintings. She has now progressed to mixed media on canvas, but will still be painting with watercolour and gouache. She loves the freedom and looseness you can achieve with the flow of watercolour. She enjoys using large canvases for mixed media and cityscapes are her favourite subjects especially New York, London and Venice and she tries to capture the atmosphere of each subject with colour, and the excitement of contrasting light against dark, and sometimes collage. Recently she has also painted coastal scenes, enjoying showing the atmospheric and stormy side of harbours and beaches.
