Lesley Dabson Soft Light, Hammersmith Bridge20 x 25 cms unframed, 31 x 36 cms framed, oil on board by Lesley Dabson. Painted entirely en plein air Hammersmith Bridge, another of London’s suspension bridges, was opened in 1887. It’s now undergoing extensive work, and I took the opportunity to paint this just before the major refurbishment started. Framed in a white, wooden floating frame.

Working predominantly in oil, her paintings are representational, coastal marine scenes or canal views of Venice. Lesley loves the old wooden dinghies that cluster in the harbours around the British coast, and along with her coastal waves and Venetian architecture, the thread of water runs constantly through her work.
