Spring greens and indigo blues invite the viewer up into the distant clouds. Thick acrylic paint was applied with a palette knife, scraped back and drawn into, to create texture and rhythm.
Julia Ogborne is an abstract and semi-abstract landscape artist, working mainly with acrylic paints. The paintings she creates are her internal response to the power and beauty of nature. Julia is particularly intrigued by the contrast of light and shadow, wonder and mystery.
Growing up she enjoyed the rugged beauty of the Derbyshire moors and the coastline of the Lleyn peninsula in North Wales. Her inspiration comes from the shifting palettes of the sky, sunlight through the trees, wide open heather clad moorlands, waves breaking onto the beach and the shining pebbles they leave behind. Using intuition, Julia works with layers of coloured paint and expressive marks, which slowly evolve into organic shapes and textures as an image begins to emerge. At this point, her response to the work becomes more considered as she carefully begins to resolve the painting.
Julia has also explored a wide range of craft disciplines, obtaining an MA in Comtemporary Craft, however it is in the process of painting that she finds complete absorption.
Julia is a qualified art teacher and works in a prison as an art tutor.
