Roger Heaton the artist is available for art commissions with his original animal paintings, pastels and watercolours at all different price ranges .Roger Heaton was born in the Mansfield in 1942, Roger Heaton studied painting and printmaking at Nottingham Art College, achieving the National Diploma in Design in 1963, and then spent a year at Hornsey College of Art, studying for the Art Teachers' Certificate. He realised very quickly that he was not cut out for teaching so, from 1965 for the next four years, he worked in advertising and magazine publishing.
In 1969 he set up a design studio, supplying designs and artwork for businesses in the east Midlands. During this time he still produced paintings, exhibiting widely around the country.
For 10 years, from 1981, Roger Heaton built up an reliable reputation for animal portraits, with commissions from all over the UK and Channel Islands. He also had paintings selected for the 1985 Royal Academy Summer Exhibition and was elected an Associate of both Yorkshire Artists Exhibition and the British Society of Artists in 1989.
He is the recipient of several prizes in the Willoughby Gallery Open Art competitions and first prize in the Thoresby Gallery Open Competition in 2007.
In 1999, together with his wife, Liz, he created the HOST OF ANGELS EXPERIENCE - a display showing the varied and changing styles of artists who, over 1500 years, have used Angels in their paintings and manuscripts. This exhibition is now on permanent display in St. Peter's Church, Lenton, Lincolnshire. In 2009 he illustrated the book GRANTHAM - Landscapes and Legends, written by Malcolm Knapp.
