I use the imagery of fruit in much of my work and am interested in their metaphorical and symbolic use in both the visual arts, literature and mythology.
I use the traditional ‘old masters’ painting techniques of oil glazing, blending (sfumato) and strong light and shade (chiaroscuro). This gives the work a ‘three dimensional’ feel, appearing ‘lit’ by a light source just out of sight.
Within my work I have always aspired to fuse the still-life traditions, principally fruits in my case, within a contemporary context, appropriate for our time.
Born in London, Dani attended a Rudolph Steiner school before studying fashion in Brighton. After which she returned to her original love of painting. Freelancing for many years as an artist before setting up a publishing company where she worked as the principal artist and designer. After several years she left publishing and turned to painting full time.
Dani was Vice-President of the Society of Women Artists for five years & is regularly invited to exhibit at the Florence Biennale. She has been selected to show at the RA Summer Exhibition, shows regularly in London and the South East and has written several books on painting for Search Press Ltd.
