In ‘October in Dublin’ Lee Tiller has used a summery palette of yellow and gold colours, ranging from dusky violets in the shadows to euphoric yellows and lustrous golds. He paints in the same tradition as the original impressionists, painting an immediacy that recreates the sensation of experiencing a moment in time and place. Hidden with the brushstrokes are myriad colours that often surprise and confound, yet viewed as a whole, form a harmonious effect similar to musical expression. Having developed a reputation for painting the effects of light, Lee’s work has often been mentioned alongside the works of the original French Impressionists, employing broken colour to create beautiful chromatic harmonies. Like Monet and Pisarro, Tiller reveals as much with colour within the shadows as you would expect to find in the full radiance of reflected sunlight. Need a little sunshine in your life? ‘October in Dublin’ will make a fine centre piece for any room. - Yes, Lee is a huge fan of Coldplay...
