Anna Dennis.

Punta Secca, Porto Venere – Italy paintings – The Palmaria is a small island near the Cinque Terre that lies infront of Porto Venere and you can reach it by boat either from La Spezia or from Porto Venere. With cool sea breezes and clear, clean blue waters it is by far the best place to be. This painting looks toward the Gabbiano beach in the afternoon, the clear sunny colours and the beach stretching out into the sea inspired me to paint this view.
This is an original oil painting painted on wooden panel. It is sold unframed.

Size: H:25 cm x W:35 cm

Artist Anna Dennis's paintings are available to buy online with Wychwood Art. Anna was born in London in 1977. She first attended The Byam Shaw School of Art Foundation Course in 1998 studying Fine Art painting before moving to Italy in 2000 to study 3 years of traditional painting techiniques in the Charles Cecil Studios in Florence. Now living with her family and children in the Ligurian countryside near to the Cinque Terre Anna continues to paint working primarily in oil. She specialises in traditional oil painting techniques such as preparing her own materials the traditional way and follows painting techiniques used by the Great Masters while being inspired by 19th and 20th century landscape painters. Her studio is based where she lives, surrounded by various animals, home grown vegetables and the striking diversity of the Ligurian countryside. She has regular painting trips to the sea, soaking up its sun and beautiful coastlines which provide a great source of inspiration. Her paintings have been exhibited both in England and in Italy. Anna comments "I paint direct from life because for me it is the most satisfying way to capture the light and the spirit of a painting. I feel so lucky to be able to paint the great variety of the Ligurian landscape and being part of the Italian culture. For example you can be looking from the mountains to the sea or be at the beach and look at the mountains. The coast is made up of small beaches with rocky shorelines and a lovely inviting turquoise blue sea and during the summer the beach is an important place to be, it is part of daily life for an Italian and I enjoy having the opportunity to document local scenes in paint. I am most inspired when I am surrounded by nature, this is where I live and so each day I look and learn from what I see. I try to capture the freshness and energy of the landscape bringing to you the true feeling of a place."
