River Silence is a beautiful evocation of a river on a still hot afternoon by Jonathan Trim. The atmosphere is one of calm contemplation. Jonathan Trims work is much sought after both in the UK and abroad. His subtle but powerful work is always about the ever changing light and atmosphere showing acute observation and interpretation of the environment. His work has received critical success and has been featured in National Art magazines. Jonathan works from his studio near the Thames Estuary.

Jonathan Trim was born in Leigh on Sea Essex by the Thames Estuary, an area that has
always been a vital source of inspiration to him. Sketchbooks from early childhood show a
fascination with light and water, which has made him the artist that he is today.
Jonathan studied Art at Southend School of Art and Leeds University/Huddersfield
Polytechnic. Over the years he has established a reputation for paintings of atmospheric
landscapes frequently referencing the Thames Estuary environment.
His work has become highly regarded and much sought after by numerous clients especially
in the East of England with a wide variety of commissions and sold works. The environments
of estuaries, rivers and the low lying wetlands of Britain and the landscape of France are his
constant sources of inspiration. He spends time every summer painting in South West France
and his work is always about the spirit of the place and the feelings of connection and
continuity.
Jonathan works from his studio near the Thames Estuary.His working practice is a
combination of plein air and studio work. Sketchbooks are always a very important starting
point with numerous sketches and notes on the sights smells and sounds of a place. His
painting methods frequently use textural materials from the locality and these are
often embedded into the paint creating an interesting surface texture to the work. He uses a
wide variety of materials including acrylic, oil and inks with a wide variety of mark making.
His subtle but powerful interpretations of the landscape are always about the ever-changing
light and atmosphere showing acute observation and contemplation of the environment.
Jonathan Trim’s paintings have been shown in numerous solo and group exhibitions in the
UK. He has been featured in a variety of National Art magazines and he has received various
awards and critical success. His work is collected by a large number of people in the UK and
abroad.
