In ‘Sunburst Finish (snow effect)’ Lee Tiller has used a warm glowing palette of colours, ranging from dusky rose to delicate reds, pinks and yellows complimented by pale shimmering purples and deep reddish browns. He paints in the same tradition as the original impressionists, painting an immediacy that recreates the sensation of experiencing a moment in time and place. Hidden with the brushstrokes are myriad colours that often surprise and confound, yet viewed as a whole, form a harmonious effect similar to musical expression. Having developed a reputation for painting the effects of light, Lee’s work has often been mentioned alongside the works of the original French Impressionists, employing broken colour to create beautiful chromatic harmonies. In this particular painting Lee has explored snow from a colour perspective. As Lee say's "Snow is never truly white, but is a reflection of the spectrum falling on it - I love to explore the possibilities of chromatic snow". Like Monet and Pisarro, Lee Tiller reveals as much with colour within the shadows as you would expect to find in the full radiance of sunlight. We are fortunate to have this painting in our inventory because he was considering keeping this one for his home! Sunburst Finish (snow effect) will make a fine centre piece for any room or office.
