In ‘The Promise of Peace’ Lee Tiller has used a delicate and ethereal palette of colour, ranging from dusky rose to delicate pinks and lilacs anchored by rich golden browns. He paints in the same tradition as the original impressionists, painting an immediacy that recreates the sensation of experiencing a moment in time and place. Hidden with the brushstrokes are myriad colours that often surprise and confound, yet viewed as a whole, form a harmonious effect similar to musical expression. Having developed a reputation for painting the effects of light, Lee’s work has often been mentioned alongside the works of the original French Impressionists, employing broken colour to create beautiful chromatic harmonies. In this particular painting Tiller has employed traditional sfumato effects to recreate a gossamer veil of misty light. Like Monet and Pisarro, Tiller reveals as much with colour within the shadows as you would expect to find in the full radiance of reflected sunlight. ‘The Promise of Peace’ will make a fine centre piece for any room. It is currently supplied unframed. Please enquire about our framing service.
