Vintage London 1 is an original painting by Sarah Adams. it has been created using wax, pen and black ink. It depicts a bygone era of London, focusing on one of the infamous views of the city – that of Eros, and the gentle sweep of Regent Street behind it.

North London born and raised artist, Sarah Adams, uses a limited colour palette of acrylics anchored with white, painted onto paper and canvases, in thick, buttery brush marks. Up close, you can see her expressive mark making, but stand back from her work, and more detail comes into view.

Her art practice is inspired by her home city of London, and her works take in well known, recognisable views, painted to create a calming, peaceful feel of what are otherwise, crowded and bustling settings.

Sarah is a prolific painter, and has been part of many London based exhibitions, notably the ING Discerning Eye, Mall Galleries in 2016 and 2018, and short-listed for the Royal Academy Summer Exhibitions 2015 and 2020. Her work has also been exhibited at the Affordable Art Fair, The Strand Gallery, Camden Image Gallery and Espacio Gallery.

In 2013 she created a series on Battersea Power Station, and completed a commission for the redevelopment of the site. Her work was reproduced on a large scale for the hoardings of the new buildings.

Recently, Sarah has explored landscapes and seascapes, still painted with her expressive mark making, alongside her Dinky Miniatures, depicting London and coastal scenes, on really tactile postcard size canvases.

Sarah’s use of a limited colour palette of acrylics anchored with white transforms the hustle and bustle of the busy metropolis into calming, serene landscapes with an almost dream-like quality. Her trademark use of thick, creamy, buttery brushmarks give her work a slightly abstract but familiar feel. Up close, you can see her expressive mark making, but stand back and her paintings come to life. Sarah’s past achievements have included exhibiting at the ING Discerning Eye, at the Mall Galleries in 2016 & 2018 and a short-listing for the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition in 2015. Her work has also been exhibited at the Affordable Art Fair, The Strand Gallery, Camden Image Gallery and Espacio Gallery. In 2013 she created a series on Battersea Power Station. Her ‘dinky’ collection, painted on small postcard sized canvases demonstrate her versatility and ‘Dinky London’ is currently on display at the Royal Academy with three other dinky paintings soon to be virtually exhibited at the ING Discerning Eye. Sarah is available for commissions and is currently working on a large canvas painting depicting Angel Canal in her distinctive style for residents keen to capture the charming vista.
