‘Love & Liberty’ is a series of work created during Lockdown 3.0 January 2021. They are an expression of the thing that can never be taken from us; our inner spirit and the freedom we choose to feel inside.
After he attempted to steal fire from the gods, Prometheus was enslaved for eternity. This is how I imagine he would see himself in his dreams; free as a bird.

“Contemporary dance pulls at my heart and touches me on an incredibly profound level. I feel like I’m trying to pour out the way the movement makes me feel onto the paper at speed, before that essence escapes or my reaction becomes too rationalised. I know whether a drawing will work from the first few watery marks I make.
I’m also in love with stories of ethereal and mythical beings; Gods, Nymphs and Arch-Angels, so my work is often figurative but sometimes just an abstract explosion of energy. Some of my figures have notably big bottoms and seem very proud of them.
I use beautiful watercolour paper, my hands, quills, reed pens, ink and wash, wax, clay, graphite, collage, blingy gold mediums and sometimes a splash of cold tea or beetroot juice.”
