” CRUCIFIER ” is an abstraction of a Spitfire fighter aircraft, crucified on the cross, head/engine dropping, wings/arms bent under the weight of crucifixion. The brave men and women who flew these planes offered them selves for crucifixion on the wings of their aircraft, many died in these beautiful airplanes.

This latest of Adam Warwick Hall sculptures in his Aerorganic series reflects on contemporary society where once the Spitfire was revered as a symbol of overcoming odds and struggle against evil but now its veteran pilots are being mugged and burgled by those too young to remember the sacrifice. I suppose this is another symbol of the technical and moral decay of this old war bird but has many levels to its genesis.

Available on either wall mounted or free standing wooden Crucifix .

Size: H:60 cm x W:60 cm
