Sculpture – ‘Global Odyssey’ by Mark Beattie 2012

250 x 200 x 200cm
Powder coated aluminium, stainless steel and painted aluminium plinth

‘Global Odyssey’ is the largest sculpture Mark has made to date. Created in 2012 after Mark finished his MA at Kingston University, it went on an exhibition tour of the UK before selling to a private client in France in 2016. The sculpture was part of some great exhibitions at iconic venues like Great Fosters hotel in Surrey and Burghley House in Lincolnshire.

All of Mark’s work is unique but a similar sculpture based on this piece/idea could be commissioned, using different materials, finishes and at various sizes. Please contact deborah@wychwoodart.com to discuss a commission. A work at this scale takes up to 12 weeks to be made.

Size: H:250 cm x W:200 cm

Mark Beattie MRBS is an emerging sculptor who lives and works in London. Mark has had a remarkable career as a sculptor so far, having exhibited his work nationally, alongside highly reputable artists such as Tracey Emin, the late Lynn Chadwick, Helaine Blumenfeld and Jonathan Yeo. In 2015, Mark won the Midlands Open, the Xerxes Sculpture Prize and was elected a member of The Royal British Society of Sculptors (MRBS). In 2017 Mark was shortlisted for the Open Contemporary Young Artist Award run by the Biscuit Factory gallery in Newcastle, shortlisted for the international Rise Art Prize and long-listed for The Secret Art Prize by Curious Duke Gallery in London. Working with various metals in all their contrasting properties of texture and finish, Mark can make industrial metal appear fluid, malleable and delicate. He continues to study different metals, looking at ways to manipulate and add movement to the material, and over the past 2 years has been developing ways in which neon or LEDs can complement his sculptures, adding movement to a piece and catching the viewer’s eye. Mark has a strong academic background in art, having studied a BA Hons (International) in Contemporary Art Practice at Leeds University and more recently an MA in European Arts Practice at Kingston University, Surrey. To date he has now exhibited in over 50 exhibitions, solo and group, and has a strong following from collectors both in the UK and abroad.
