This tiger print was inspired by a drawing I did a few years ago, which is a firm favourite of mine. Interpreting it into a graphic style colour lino print was an enjoyable challenge! I think my 'kitty' looks too friendly to be a man-eater... This is not a print made digitally and printed by machine; this 3 colour lino reduction print has all been hand made - drawn, lino carved and printed by hand, so there are minor variations making each and every print unique. A small edition of only 4 prints. Metallic copper ink was the principle colour used, which will 'catch the light'. One piece of lino was used throughout, with colours added and more lino cut away each time. You can see some of the stages of printmaking, by clicking through the photographs. Printed with water based light fast ink on 300 gsm Somerset satin acid free paper. Signed and numbered on the front in pencil. Room setting images are visually as close to scale as possible, but not to actual scale.

Margaret Mallows' work is available at Wychwood Art online and in our gallery. Margaret says of her works: Having drawn and painted since an early age, leaving school at 16 I started working for artist Dennis Syrett in his Art Shop. Dennis encouraged my painting, and in my teens I exhibited for 2 consecutive years at the Mall Galleries in London. Life thereafter became very busy with work and family commitments leaving almost no time to create over the next 40+ years. 4 years ago it was my time to start creating again, and I taught myself reduction method lino printing and dry point etching. Buying a starter kit and book, from my very first print I was hooked – I wanted to learn more. Within a short time I had confidence in the work I was producing and began exhibiting locally and selling online; my work is now in collectors’ homes in 25 countries worldwide. Inspiration comes from my surroundings, occasionally with a twist of humour! To discuss any of Margaret Mallows' works please email or call Deborah on 07799 535765.
