Our very important pollinators bees and butterflies are the stars of this print. The bees are buzzing around the vibrant blue ceanothus shrub and a Red Admiral, Camberwell Beauty and a Swallowtail butterflies are gracefully fluttering by the poppies and heuchera flowers. Hand printed in my studio from 7 separate lino blocks. Printed with oil based relief inks on 300gsm soft white Somerset velvet paper. Signed and dated on the front. A Linocut Print is a relief printing technique where lino is cut, inked and rolled to create an inverse relief print, generating the image as seen. © Kate Heiss 2022 All rights reserved

Kate Heiss is a textile designer and print-maker who has worked with a wide range of fashion brands including Fenchurch, Miss Selfridge and the Japanese fashion designer Michiko Koshino. Then in 2011 Kate set up her own printmaking studio. Her approach to design and printmaking stems from a love of florals, geometric patterns and bold colours often found in textiles. Much of her inspiration comes from the natural landscapes of East Anglia. Working in a variety of techniques to create her distinctive style, she describes her style as “Vibrant, illustrative and quirky.”
