A handmade etching and aquatint which began as a rough sketch which was worked directly onto a zinc plate. Most of the tones created by adding an aquatint, have been kept light, giving the impression of an ink drawing. Rebecca Denton enjoys combining this ancient printmaking technique with fresh ideas. The plate is inked for every print in the limited edition, meaning each one is unique. Materials: etching inks, Somerset Satin paper 300gsm

With over two decades of creating, Rebecca Denton works from her sketches and imagination to create original prints in her North London studio. Her aquatints are often whimsical, featuring imagined characters in imaginary landscapes and her narrative etchings are playful, sometimes with a serious context but always hopeful and life-affirming. I love it when people connect with the work; perhaps it triggers a childhood memory or allows them to dream of a better world or just dream...
