This piece was inspired by the beautiful rugged landscape of Skye and the way the weather can change in an instant, the light is so atmospheric and can overwhelm the landscape. When a bright shaft of light shines down and highlights the beauty all around is such an inspiring moment. Its the brief seconds you get that I always aspire to catch and to add my feelings for the place. The painting is in oils on a cradled panel and I have used the soft greens and blues that you see on a spring day when the earth is getting ready for its renewed energy. This painting is framed in a white tray frame.

I love being in nature and concentrate on using paint as a vehicle to convey the intimacy of my surroundings and the sense of belonging and affinity with landscape. The landscape drives me to capture atmosphere when I am in wild places and I use these feelings and experiences in a very loose and ephemeral way to create my own personal view of the landscape.
