Complete size of triptych: H:57cm x W:57cm x W:4cm Sound of The Wind - I spent a lot of time in the garden for inspiration during lockdown. Looking at all the different shades of greens, they seemed to shimmer, glow and pop out at me in the sunlight. Framed in a simple wooden frame. Mountaintop, Sound of the Wind - Our first drive outside our immediate area after lockdown. It was sunny in the studio but as we headed into the Beacons, the wind picked up as the temperature dropped. The light was disappointing but the feeling of being on the mountain road again and clambering by the stream made me see, hear and feel everything around me so differently. Framed in a simple wooden frame. The Silence of Sound - This painting is inspired but the joy of living near a waterfall, the silence that comes after being immersed in it, the delicious viscosity of paint, and the joy that comes with living in the landscape, combing the earth for materials. Framed in a simple wooden frame.

Discover new paintings by artist Maria Pierides. Maria Pierides trained as an artist and art psychotherapist and worked in the NHS for a number of years. She is now devoting herself full time to her art at her studio in the foothills of the Brecon Beacons. Living within earshot of a running stream, she explores in paint the texture and temporality of human experience. Building up and scraping back areas of paint to capture the atmosphere, mass, light and poetry of the landscapes she is aiming to represent, Maria's work seamlessly connects inner and outer worlds. Maria’s painting has been shortlisted for the Society of Women Artists Open, Bentley Open Art Prize, The Maidstone Museum, The British Women Artists Competition and the East Meets West Art Award, as well as being longlisted for the Threadneedle Prize and The Royal West Academy. Maria also has work in private collections in the UK, USA and Europe.
