Oil painting on a box canvas depicting a storm at sea. This painting was inspired after walking on the Kent coast, the day was overcast and a storm was brewing, the waves were lashing against the rocks. The blue colouring used representing an overcast day. ,

Rosemary Houghton, artist with Wychwood Art. My paintings are inspired from architecture, water and the countryside, both at home and abroad. Some of these images I have abstracted using colour and texture, the colours inspired from my travels in the east. I work in a considerable variety of ways, using mixed media to enhance texture and to add an evocative feel to the work. I also like to create a feeling of space and vitality within the painting.
