Oil painting depicting a sunset over the lake. This is a painting from my memories of spending a holiday in the Lake District and seeing the evening sunset over the lake. It is painted in oil in pinks and peach with rays from the sun reaching up to the sky.

Rosemary Houghton, artist with Wychwood Art. My paintings are inspired from architecture, water and the countryside, both at home and abroad. Some of these images I have abstracted using colour and texture, the colours inspired from my travels in the east. I work in a considerable variety of ways, using mixed media to enhance texture and to add an evocative feel to the work. I also like to create a feeling of space and vitality within the painting.
