Coast Path, Rhossili
Acrylic Paint on Wooden Panel
Panel Size: H 25.4cm x W 25.4cm x D 0.5cm. (10 inch square panel)
Coast Path, Rhossili is an original seascape painting by Sharon Williams. Rhossili Beach the westerly tip of the Gower. A Saturday in October with the sea full of surfers enjoying the rollers, enormous jellyfish and sea mist disguising the shore line. I was attracted to the bracken beginning to turn orange and the winding costal path.
A richly textured and atmospheric painting . Created with numerous layers & glazes of harmonious colour. Painted in acrylic on panel ready to be framed to suit your interior.
Sharon Williams is a professional artist based in the Wychwoods in the Cotswolds, UK. Sharon studied Illustration at Harrow College, University of Westminster. She has had a successful career as an illustrator since the mid-nineties producing colourful, painterly and attractive images for paper products, greetings cards, magazines, fine art prints and children’s books.
Since moving to the Cotswolds and having a family Sharon has relished creating paintings for exhibition rather than working to a more commercial brief and has especially enjoyed working on larger paintings as illustrations tend to be small.
Her style and technique have developed significantly and have consolidated during this period of exploration. Influences are wide and varied; often drawn from the beauty of the local landscape, travel, the characterful chickens who watch her work though the studio window and portrait commissions.
Sharon primarily paints in acrylic due to it’s fast drying qualities and versatility; allowing her to build up thick, thin or glazes of colour which are often scraped back to reveal contrasting layers of colour beneath. This produces an interesting and textural finish to the painting and she is often influenced by and enjoys the ‘chance’ mark or colour combination created using this method. She enjoys combining colour, texture, gestural marks and plenty of layers to create rich and interesting paintings.
